  1. Fast service, no complaints.
Nice views and quiet location. Easy to park, very nice garden with a beautiful terrace. Nice country pub worth a visit.
Excellent rooms!!! Very nice and clean. Very good hospitality and food (wonderful dinner, the best curry in the world). Food is tasty, good portions, reasonably priced. Beer was excellent!
Friendly and efficient staff. Thanks John, Vicky and Bibi. See you soon! Oliver

  2. Hi visited on sunday lunchtime and ordered 3x beer battered fish and chips, while the food was very nice each plate was completely different, the fish were very different sizes and one plate had 14 chips, one had 12chips and the third plate had 8 chips, this smacked of lack of attention to detail especially as all three plates were going to the same table. Although a lovely setting we wont be visiting again i’m afraid.

    • Hello Anne, Just to let you know we will be taking over this coming Monday and hope you would like to come and visit. One of our first purchases will be tableware. Please do check out our website as there will be many exciting changes afoot.

  3. Phoned at 1:30pm to see if there was a table available for a late lunch. Tracey said yes they could fit us in and was most helpful in going through the vegetarian options. The food was delicious – all home-made! Will certainly call back if we are in the vicinity.

  4. A gloriously-fantastic Hardy village pub, of the sort that I feared never existed anymore. Superb food, excellent beers, lovely people. Utterly divine.

  5. Visited on Monday 2 January 2017 with my son and daughter-in-law for lunch. I just cannot praise too highly on all counts. The welcome lived up to everything said on the website – very genuine and caring throughout. We all agreed the food was excellent and the roast venison I had was cooked to perfection – I can truly say the best I have ever had in a restaurant. The local provenance was amazing – deer bred and shot by a lady over 90 years old! beautifully cooked fresh vegetables to accompany and followed by a delicious lemon tart with cream. The coffee was great too! The lady chef was I think rather reluctant to come and be praised but she certainly deserved to be and it was such a pleasure to meet her. The location is of course so beautiful and I would certainly like to spend more time there even without a car!

    • Dear Jane,
Thankyou so much for taking the time to send us your comment, much appreciated. We are trying very hard to make this pub a truly wonderful destination and we are so pleased you like what we are doing. It was a pleasure to look after you and your family.

  6. Just popped into The Shoes for a quick drink today while on a walk in the Spring sunshine around Powerstock Common and ended up staying for Sunday lunch, which was preceded by the most amazing Scotch Egg ever. We live some 8 miles or so away and used to come here in the past but not for a couple of years after it changed hands. The location of the pub is second to none and the countryside around will not have changed too much since Hardy was writing. The welcome from Tracey and the team could not have been better and it is just what a pub like this needs – along with great food and real ale of course. The Shoes is a ‘destination pub’ that is more than well worth the visit once again. Our visit today made Sunday spectacular. Thank you.

    • Hi Simon, Thanks for your kind comment. What an amazing day on the wonderful terrace, I hope the sunburn calmed down! We loved looking after you both and hope to see you for a visit and overnight stay soon. Tracey Amie and #team3shoes

  7. Had a fabulous lunch today.A very warm welcome by Tracey and Amy. Will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.

  8. This is a really great pub with extremely good food and a really good pint. The menu is very sound pub food with an interesting twist to it. The food is prepared with attention to detail and beautifully presented. the portion sizes are good. Aimee (the chef) obviously takes a great deal of pride in her kitchen and what comes out of it. We visited three times during our week long break and each meal was completely different and each one was thoroughly enjoyable.
On our second visit, Tracey new what we had drunk previously and gave a very warm welcome, she made us feel totally at home with just the right amount of chat,
This is a pub that is worth travelling to and will certainly be a good part of the reason for our return trip to Bridport. Thank you.
